Spring break is an opportunity for students to take a break from school and focus on something other than their studies. Most take it as a chance to get away and go on vacation, while some really, really like to get away. Here are some of the most popular spots students visit over spring break.

Daytona Beach, Florida

Daytona Beach is an area notorious for its tourism, drawing millions each year to its sandy beaches. One of the main reasons Daytona is so popular is because of its high temperatures during March—the most common month for spring breaks. Although Florida is considered a generally warm spot, cheap beaches in northern Florida such as Panama City can drop temperatures as low as 40 degrees at night. That’s way too chilly to hit the beach in, so Daytona Beach is the clear choice for most students wanting to get a taste of the Floridian lifestyle with a hint of partying.

Miami Beach, Florida

Moving further down the coast, Miami Beach attracts young adults with its fiery nightlife. Hundreds of bars line the strip, open all night for tourists and locals alike to party their hearts out. Miami can be an iffy choice for its massive size and ridiculous prices, but that’s also what draws those looking to live luxuriously for a week.

Cancún is a Mexican city on the Yucatán Peninsula, famously known as a cheap spot for spring breakers to visit if they’re looking to travel outside of the United States. With its gorgeous sandy beaches and clear water, Cancún is a tropical dream for people looking to spend their break somewhere nice and new.

Las Vegas, Nevada

Students flock to Las Vegas mainly because it certainly lives true to its nickname, Sin City. Las Vegas has over 77 spots to grab a drink in the isolated desert town, ranging from sports bars to opulent nightclubs. Just like Miami, those who look for a taste of decadence head to Vegas, although it can be an expensive option to spring break in. It’s certainly worth it for those looking to party hard or maybe even winning big at one of the 136 casinos.

One of the lesser known spring break locations, South Padre Island is a resort town on an island off the Southern coast of Texas. With high temperatures and warm waters by the Gulf of Mexico, South Padre Island is one of the best options for students looking for an island experience. The fact that it’s less popular also makes it a solid option for students; this means lower prices and more fun to hog to yourself.
